Recruitment

Whiting & Partners is one of the largest and most successful independent accountancy firms in East Anglia. We have 20 Partners and employ approximately 140 staff in our 8 offices.

All our staff are actively encouraged to study for professional qualifications. We offer an excellent training environment which enables our staff to gain a wide range of practical experience to complement their professional studies. We offer structured training programmes including correspondence and external courses (including day release) and also have our own internal training courses.

For staff studying for professional qualifications we pay for all course and exam fees for first time sittings as well as providing appropriate study leave. In return we expect our students to be fully committed to their studies whilst also meeting the demands of full time employment.

We have a varied client base from sole traders to larger companies. We work closely with our clients helping them to achieve their goals and we see our staff as playing a vital role in this process. As a member of our team you will gain the expertise necessary to develop your accountancy career. Some of our staff have been with us for many years and a number of our Partners originally joined us as students and qualified with the Firm.

We support our staff in studying for membership of the following professional bodies:

  • Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) - qualification consists of three stages, foundation, intermediate and technical competence. Study is usually by day release at local college. Entry is open to students who can demonstrate numeracy and literacy skills. We require students to obtain at least 4 GCSE at grade C or above including Maths and English Language,
  • Institute of Chartered Accountants In England & Wales (ACA) - candidates are required to enter into a training contract (typically three years) during which they will sit professional exams whist gaining practical experience. Study is by block release and distance learning with a recognized training provider. Entry can be via graduate route or A Levels (minimum requirement of 20 UCAS points). Students who have obtained the AAT qualification by passing all papers at the first attempt may also be considered for Fast Track entry.

A number of our staff specialize in taxation and we encourage those individuals to obtain membership of the following professional bodies:

  • Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) - Study is by distance learning course with a recognized training provider. Entry requirements are a minimum of 4 GCSE's at grade C or above (including Maths and English Language). Students who have obtained the AAT qualification or certain A Levels will be exempt from some of the examination papers,
  • Chartered Institute of Taxation (CTA) - Study is by distance learning course with a recognized training provider. Entry is open to those who have obtained the ATT. qualification or who have other relevant professional qualifications (principally AAT or ACA).
